Aku is a project executed during in a 5 day design challenge. The goal was to create a lifecabinet to save the user memories; The 5 day desing challenge "Life Cabinet" was run by Mikael Löfstrom, Director at Carl Malmsten Furniture Studies, Swedeen. 

 

Memories are thoughts, expressions, people, places,ocassions, experiences and even feelings.We treasure them in the deepest part of our heart. Something so sacred couldn't be exposed as it is. When we treasure objects  that remind us of someone or something and have a high value for us, we want to keep them safe. For that reason we have created Aku, a lifecabinet which helps keep safe all those valuable objects by taking the concept of the obvious. 

 

Aku has 9 drawners. Four of them open ,the other five are just to fool  memory intruders. The drowners have a push to open system  and do not opean so easily, you have to give them a couple of little pushes in order to open them. Only the owner knows which are the right ones.
